5 Categories Of Your Diet Food

Food is the fuel of your body. To keep your body in proper healthy conditions, you need to keep a balanced diet. Divide your food into five categories, if you want to know what are the main ingredients of a balanced diet. Here they are:

1. CARBOHYDRATES
The sugary and starchy foods that provide energy to your body are rich in carbohydrates. Like bread, potatoes and sugar. Starches have to be digested down to sugars before being absorbed into the blood. Then they act in the same way as sugar to provide energy. And if you consume more carbohydrates than required for immediate physical activity, then it is at once converted into fat.

Go for minimum carbohydrates in your diet and plenty of vegetables, fruits and proteins. Like for small amount of carbohydrates, you can eat a little wholemeal bread daily and a small potato.

2. FATS
There are many types of fats in our diet, namely, animal fat, butter, margarine and oils. Fats are known to provides energy to us and they also contain certain vitamins. The studies show that the diets low in animal fat and high in polyunsaturated oil protect us from coronary heart disease. For e.g. vegetable oils, "Flora" margarine, etc.

3. PROTEINS
Proteins are said to be the body building foods. They are needed by the humans by the time of growth, and in the adult age, we need proteins to repair and replace our body tissues. They also protect our bodies against all the infections and fight against the attack of invading germs, called antibodies. Some of the protein-rich foods are found in Western diets like meat, fish, poultry, eggs and cheese, certain vegetables such as beans.

4. INORGANIC SALTS
There are 3 types of inorganic salts. They are the basic requirement of our body, without which we cannot survive. Table salt- Its chemical name is sodium chloride and most of our foods largely depend on it. Calcium and Phosphorus- We need these for the healthy formation of our teeth and bones. Iodine- Without its sufficient supply, our thyroid gland in the neck cannot function. Iron- It helps in the manufacturing and replacement of red cells in our blood.

5. LESS SUGAR
The energy levels in all foods is usually measured in calories. Sugar is, in the general sense, mentioned as "empty calories" as there are no other vitamins and trace elements in it. But sugar and its derivations like puddings, pastries and sweets should be cut out from your daily diet. Honey and fruits are highly beneficial for your health, though they are extremely sweet but they contain more healthy fruit sugars that are a suitable alternative for a sweet tooth.

So far, no magical drug has been found yet that can convert the metabolism of the "fatty foods" into the lean ones, so the only that you can get is to restrict your daily calorie intake to 1500 calories only. Also, add a bit of exercise, say 45-minute brisk walk daily, as this will help you to lose weight up to 3 pounds per week. Continue this until and unless you reach your target of losing weight.

The real secret to weight loss is to put minimum burden on your heart and joints to prevent the development of arthritis and heart disease.
